Remorse

Hello people! How’re you all doing? Firefly is back again, haha. It’s almost been a month and finally I somehow found the inspiration to write today. I’m so disappointed that I quit that April Poetry Challenge on the 26th day huh. What a shame! Let’s hope that I continue to write in the coming days now. O, Goddess of Poetry, please shine your magic wand on me. 🤩

So, I’ve been studying Literary devices this week, and this particular device ‘Oxymoron’ struck me. An oxymoron is a figure of speech where two opposite ideas are put together. For example: deafening silence, living death etc.

Check out this poem of mine where I’ve attempted to use as many oxymorons as possible, so ultimately this poem looks like a freaking moron! It has no meaning, huh. But, as it’s said ‘The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.’ This is my single step in the right direction. 😼

It was a light hearted tragedy,
Of two venomous pure hearts,
Of hateful love, of loving hate, Of
How destiny threw them together apart.

Silent screams of those cheerful ballads,
That adorned their dying newborn love,
Still echo in the distant hills with a dull grace,
Nature lies drenched in fiery snowflakes.

Their death bloomed like wilted flowers,
Storms silenced the oceanless shore,
While love remained a soulful carcass,
Bleeding away with a hopeful remorse.

So, how many oxymorons could you spot? And could you make out any meaning out of it? These were like 3:30 A.M. thoughts that I sneakily penned down in my notes app. It’s so annoying when you jot down one idea, close your phone and finally get down to sleep when suddenly a new idea pops up and you just have to note it down or else you’ll forget this brilliant phrase tomorrow. And this cycle keeps on repeating, and you realise it’s morning, haha.

    1. Bhaiyaaa, thankyou! 😺💙
Us din aapko thoda galat bata diya tha. Aaj class me doubt clear hua. Oxymoron is two opposite words put together in a phrase, and Antithesis is two opposite ideas put together in a sentence. 😼

    2. Areyyy, when you say ‘sad smiles’ or ‘fruitful desert’ or something, then it is an oxymoron. It’s a phrase na.

And when you say ‘War is peace’ or ‘speech is silver, silence is golden’ or something like that, toh it’s antithesis because it’s two opposing ideas in a sentence.

      Samjhe ab?

  1. Oh my goodness Chandni, very well written.
These lines were my personal favourite:
    Storms silenced the oceanless shore,
While love remained a soulful carcass!

Please don’t ever stop writing. xoxo 🙂

  2. Bloomed like a Wilted flower, Silent Screams etc etc.
Matlab jinka koi matlab nahi wo Oxymoron?!
No wonder why it is named a moron but a literary one😅.

    1. Haha, look who’s here! How’ve you been, Yash? 😄
Haan, something like that. Oxymorons truly are morons. Meri poem ka matlab hi nai nikla kuch. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Next time meaningful cheez ke sath entry karungi.

    2. Doing good. Just wake up from my dungeon and came back to blogging world unless I again feel the urge to sleep back😅. I hope you are good too.
And this post was really nice.

    3. Oh God! I hope this blogging world suits you well and you decide to stay longer. Do write poems and your one liners, haha. I’m good too. Thankyou, Yash. 😁🌟

    4. This is definitely suiting me. One can’t stay here otherwise since 3 years😅. But i haven’t been very active.
Will try to write something soon. Thank you. Waiting for your next poem.

    5. That happens. I have been on a break after April too. But this is definitely a nice place. Where else would one find such a conducive environment for writing other than in the company of such enthusiastic bloggers? 😄
Yes, I’ll be waiting to read from you. Haha, let’s see. I’ll keep on posting such meaningless poems till I get better.

  3. Zyada samjh to ni aaya but it was nice😛
Ye literary devices kon pdhta huh? I still open my grammar book to read their definitions the night before exam😒Grammar mujhe bilkul nahi pasand. Bilkul ni.

    1. Haha, upar dekhlo comments kisi ko bhi nai samajh aaya. 😂 Master’s karo English Literature mein, you’ve to read and remember everything. For you English is like a casual sa subject, I’ve opted for it myself here. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Huh, maine nahi bola tha idhar aake padho mere posts. If you’re following me, you have to deal with shitty poems too once in a while. 😒 I’m not an internationally acclaimed poet.

    2. Charan sparsh😅
Hmph most of the internationally acclaimed poets of our times are idk why called poets. Aapke poem ka ek ek sentence alag karke wo 20 poems post karte😂😂
Haan haan I can take these things. Keep writing! 😝😂

    3. Khush raho beta. 🧚✋
Haha, that is true. Meri poem se poemein ban jaati and unka bhi kisi ka koi sense nai hota. But people would’ve been mesmerized. 😂
I’m writing, so should you. 👊

    1. But lacks meaning. 😹 Thankyou Miss Aa’eedah. You’ve realllly lifted up my mood by just alighting upon my blog like a beautiful butterfly of happy vibes. I just love youuu. 🤗♥️

    2. The underlying theme is beautiful and the title hints at it too. Full of jewels 💙💖

      Love you, dearest😘❤️
