Day 16 – Wanderlust

Hello all! National Poetry Writing Month is on! It’s the time when poets from all around the world exhibit their love for the art of poetry writing. 😄

My poem for Day 16 is titled Wanderlust. It’s a Shakespearean Sonnet. I mean, I’ve tried to follow all the rules, but the theme is not so elevated. It’s just something silly. 😹 So, Shakespearean (English) Sonnet is a poem of 14 lines It has three quatrains and a couplet, and rhymes – abab cdcd efef gg. Have a look at my attempt!

Been twenty-one days to this quarantine,
And I’m a fish thrown out of water.
Wish I had wings that’d send my soul flyin’,
Being locked indoors, is a mental slaughter.

I wish to span the blue sea and the Earth,
Visit new and exotic places unknown.
Thrill of adventure fuels my life’s hearth,
I yearn to map the world, from hills to stone.

So, I pack my bags, the journey begins,
And we embark onto cities and towns.
Las Vegas, New York, Tokyo, Philippines,
And drool over Elizabeth’s crown.

My wanderlust is truly satisfied,
Google Earth gave me a hell of a ride!

Thanks to my dear friend Shubham Kasera for giving me this wonderful idea. Haha! 🤠
