Day 7 – Wilted Flowers

Hello all! National Poetry Writing Month is on! It’s the time when poets from all around the world exhibit their love for the art of poetry writing. 😄

My poem for Day 7 is titled Wilted Flowers. This one is not written in a specific style as well. I’ve only tried to use alliteration in a lot of places. I was actually suuuuper frustrated about taking up this challenge. It’s hard to come up with new and exciting ideas every single day.

A writer really needs motivation and feedback to continue. Haha, unfortunately, I don’t have both. It’s extra tough. But, I won’t quit. This will probably turn out to be the hardest challenge for me. But, let’s hope everything goes well. Check out today’s poem!

Wanted to believe there was something
Between us; Some magic, some spark, Something different from the others,
That’d stay amid the light and the dark.

But guess what? It was a foul facade,
That pierced my soul like a glass shard.
It was dead as a deserted dreary island,
Joyless as sunken leaves in the sand.

A garden of roses that won’t bloom,
My heart was a storming sea of gloom.
An empty mansion, where love had no room,
My life was drowning into a doleful doom.

Fake jewels don’t shine so bright,
And bells once broken, don’t chime,
You don’t want wilted flowers?
Then learn to water them on time!

  1. Every line is a reality of life explained in different ways. That was a beautiful read to me.
And yes, jab bewajah koi thappad maar de tab zada dimag kharab hota hai na ki tab jab video game khel rahe ho. 🙂

    1. Thankyou so much! Haha, video game ke beech koi thappad maare toh there are more chances that we’ll forgive them. It’s a great trick to slap the friends we hate. 🤣
